Overview
The Hutchison Virus Collection and Preservation System is optimised for the collection, stabilisation and transportation of samples of coronavirus (COVID-19), influenza, bird flu, hand-foot-and-mouth disease (HFMD) and measles.
Hutchison flocked swabs provide optimal specimen collection from the oral cavity, throat and nasopharynx.
The application of an RNA preservation solution maximises yields and purity of RNA collected from samples and maintains sample viability until testing.
Kits are supplied individually packaged.
Alternative packaging options are available upon request.
Alternative kits are available for collection and transportation of other viruses such as chlamydia, mycoplasma and ureaplasma specimens.

Sterile Disposable Swab
The KJ502 Disposable Sampling Swab from Hutchison provides optimal specimen collection from the oral cavity, throat and nasopharynx.
The KJ502 swab is available in two models with breakpoints at 77.6mm (KJ502-28-1) and 78.6mm (KJ502-14).
The sampling head jet embedded nylon flock technology facilitates a capillary effect between fibre strands, promoting hydraulic assimilation of liquid sample specimens.
The fibres serve as a soft brush, improving specimen collection with increased yields of high-quality RNA samples for testing of SARS-CoV-2 and other viruses.
Hutchison flocked swabs have no absorbent core that can absorb and inhibit the release of specimen samples. The microstructure of multi-length fibres ensures the entire sample remains close to the surface of the swab for rapid and maximal elution into a transport media.
A moulded breakpoint guarantees the swab shaft breaks cleanly and safely at the correct length to suit the sample collection tube after collection.
The swab is sterilised using gamma irradiation and can be used safely without risk of infection.
Alternative swab options are available to suit cervix uteri, nasopharynx, oral cavity, forensic acquisition and DNA sample collection applications.
